Greeting & Invocation

Call to Worship

            (L):  We join in this most holy night of the year proclaiming:

            (P):  Glory to God in the Highest and on earth, peace.

            (L):  Our hearts are filled with joy as we celebrate the birth of our Savior in Bethlehem’s manger.

            (P):  We sing praises to God and glorify God’s name as the angels did on the night of God’s birth.  We rejoice in the fact that the promise of long ago has now been fulfilled.

            (L):  Tonight, we light candles reminding us of the hope, peace, love and joy of Christ.  Now as we light the Christ candle, let us really know that our hopes and fears have been met.

            Unison:  O God, we celebrate your goodness to us as we join in the triumph and joy of Christmas.  As your love has been revealed in all of its fullness, we pray that love may abound  in our hearts today and always.  Grant that the spirit of the Christ-child may dominate our lives in every way. In His name we pray.  Amen.

Silent night, holy night, all is calm, all is bright

Round yon virgin mother and child.  Holy infant, so tender and mild,

Sleep in heavenly peace, sleep in heavenly peace.

Silent night, holy night, shepherds quake at the sight;

Glories stream from heaven afar, heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!

Christ the Savior is born, Christ the Savior is born!

Silent night, holy night, Son of God, love’s pure light;

Radiant beams from thy holy face with the dawn of redeeming grace,

Jesus, Lord at thy birth, Jesus, Lord, at thy birth.

Silent night, holy night, wondrous star, lend thy light;

With the angels let us sing, Alleluia to our King;

Christ the Savior is born, Christ the savior is born!
