Dan Hogan,
Lead Pastor

  • Presently in his 13th year at Forrest Burdette, Dan has been a member of the WV United Methodist Conference for 35 years, having served three appointments prior to joining the staff as lead pastor in 1998. Dan's greatest love is found in the local church. His passion includes facilitating small groups and preaching. As Lead Pastor, serving Forrest Burdette, a congregation of 1200 members, involves a commitment to long term planning and working closely with staff for the implementation of programming of the church.`` Dan is a 1974 graduate of Asbury University, Asbury Theological Seminary (1977) with a MDiv and Drew Theological Seminary (1992) with a DMin degree. He and his wife, Nelda have two married sons, Johnathan of Pensacola, Florida and Andrew of Roanoke, Virginia.

    Coert Voorhees,
    Youth Minister

  • Coert joined on staff July 2011. Growing up in Woodbridge, New Jersey, Coert then moved onto study and graduate from Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA with a B.A. in Student Ministries and a Minor in Sociology. Not only did he study at Geneva, but he also played for the Men's Varsity Soccer team. Coert enjoys spending his time playing soccer, listening/playing music, playing boardgames, day-dreaming and going to the city for fun. Coert and his wife Rachael love to be on adventures together. And so, Hurricane, WV starts a new chapter in the crazy book on stories of Coert & Rachael! Hello Hurricane

    Jonathan Dierdorff,
    Pastoral Assistant

  • Jonathan has been on staff at Forrest Burdette Memorial UMC since January 2008. In July 2011 he transitioned into a new role as a pastoral assistant. Jonathan is currently a candidate for ordained ministry as an elder in the WV Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. In 2007 he earned a degree in Theology from Tri-State Bible College, and is currently a Full-Time student at Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, KY. Aside from reading, writing and good conversation, Jonathan enjoys spending time with Alisha, his wife of four years, and their 1 year old son, Carter. They reside a few miles south of Lexington, KY and commute each weekend to share in the life of Forrest Burdette Church.

    Suzanne Vierling,
    Children's Minister
     
  • Suzanne joined the staff in August 2010 and was a children’s minister for 6 years at two different Methodist churches in Jacksonville, FL, before moving to Hurricane, WV.  She graduated from the University of North Florida with a B.A. in Elementary Education and certification in gifted education.  Suzanne enjoys playing board games and working on puzzles with her family, husband Jack and elementary age children Jacob and Mara.

    Jane Gillispie,
    Church Secretary
  • Jane joined the staff in July, 2008. She retired from HVAC business after 12 years of service. Jane has been a member of Forrest Burdette since 1996. She attended Marshall University. Jane enjoys reading and adores her cats, Ebit, Toy  & Jethro, all recycled cats!

    Business Manager
  • Cindy joined the staff in October, 2009. She graduated from University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Cindy and her husband, Shawn plus two sons have been members at Forrest Burdette since moving to WV in 2002. Cindy enjoys reading and working in the garden.

    Custodian
  • Connie joined the staff in February, 2008. She resides in Hurricane with her husband.  She has two children, a son and a daughter. She has two grandchildren and one on the way. She enjoys gardening and working in her yard.

    COM Administrative Supervisor
  • Mia joined the Children’s Outreach Ministry staff in February 2001.  She graduated from Marshall University with a B.S. in Dietetics and an M.A. in Education.  She enjoys spending time with her family including husband, Curtis, and daughters, Darya and Emma.

    Traci Dunmire,
    COM Assistant Director

  • Traci joined the Children’s Outreach Ministries staff in August 2011.  She graduated from Glenville State College with a B.S. in Behavioral Science.  She enjoys spending time with her family including husband, Todd, and children, Allison and Cam.
