Sine Nomine (Without Name)

Gary Rodvelt, Kevin Lawhon, Tiffany Miller - Class Facilitators

Room 308

Sine Nomine is a Latin term meaning "without name". The "without name" concept mirrors the class philosophy of not having strict definitions of who should come to the class or limitations of what will be "- .* studied. They are an intergenerational class of singles and couples with children whose ages range from toddlers to young adults.

They have a strong emphasis on fellowship with other Christians and building relationships with class members and God. Two highlights of the class are a summer picnic and a Christmas dinner. The class , promotes communication with each other through e-mail.

They are strongly committed to community outreach through adopting a family in need for Thanksgiving and Christmas, preparing Christmas candles, participating in Lil' Lambs and being open to addressing community needs as they are brought to the attention of the class.

Future studies will be: Max Lucado, "Life Lessons -Book of Acts"; Ray Vander Laan, "Faith Lessons with the Messiah"; and "Breaking the Code - Book of Revelation"

Stewards of Fellowship

Jim Campbell - Class Facilitator

Room 111

Stewards of Fellowship is filled with people of all ages, sizes, shapes and smiles. They meet each week to "Share the Journey" by studying the Word, sharing joys and concerns and laughing and crying together in fellowship.

Over the years they have had quite a variety of curricula, and have used materials by a variety of gifted authors and Christian leaders. Class members say that the strength of the class is in their members who have developed friendships, prayer partners, mentors and brothers and sisters who are truly there for them every step of the way in life's journey as a Christian.

Fellowship opportunities are available throughout the year and the class is involved in many service opportunities throughout the year.

You are sincerely invited to "Share the Journey" with them. Contact Jim Campbell at 757-9018 for more information.

It's Not About Me (INAM)

Diane Wolfe - Class Facilitator

Conference Room

It's Not About Me (INAM) is a fairly new Sunday School class that was formed in 2005 by a group of new Forrest Burdette members who had just completed Step 1 and wanted to continue as a group learning about the Methodist Church and strengthening their walk with God. INAM gets its name from the first study they did as a class in 2005, "It's Not About Me ", by Max Lucado.

With members ranging in age from 30 to 70, It's Not About Me provides not only traditional Bible study, but also discusses the works of contemporary Christian authors. Prayer is a big emphasis of the class as well as support and fellowshi p among the members. There are 15 regular members, however, a welcoming smile will always greet anyone wishing to find a new Sunday School class who visits INAM.

Loyal Pioneers

Sam Sentelle and John Simmons – Class Facilitators

Chapel

The Loyal Pioneers traces its origin at Forrest Burdette back to 1952, when it was called the Wesley Pioneers, and later merged with the Loyal Service class and became the Loyal Pioneers. Today, the class welcomes anyone seeking a Sunday School class made up of mature Bible students of all ages.

The Loyal Pioneers engages in an ongoing critical study of the Scriptures, looking at the historical context, translation, transmission, and contemporary interpretation of the Word of God. The Pioneers use a quarterly Adult Bible Studies curriculum which presents stimulating lessons that explore the biblical message and how to apply it to daily life. The class moves from a focus on the Word to reflection on personal, family, church, and community concerns.

Over the years members of the class have found lifelong friends and they are always a source for prayer, visitation, and concern for each other in times of need.

Fellowship opportunities of the class include an annual summer picnic and the class

is always well represented in most church activities.
